Environmental Health Programs

We run a range of public and environmental health programs to protect the health and wellbeing of our community. Our Environmental Health Officer registers food businesses, monitors water quality, regulates places of assembly and responds to environmental health concerns.

What we do

  • Register food businesses, temporary food stalls and mobile food vans, and audit for compliance with the Food Act 2003
  • Sample and report recreational water quality through the summer swimming season
  • Administer regulated systems (cooling towers, warm-water systems) under the Public Health Act 1997
  • Register suppliers of private water, water carriers and rainwater tanks
  • Process Place of Assembly applications and support smoke-free public events
  • Run the community immunisation service in partnership with schools and the Tasmanian Department of Health
  • Respond to noise complaints, backyard burning enquiries and beekeeper biosecurity questions
